Due to the flow of blood, the water level also goes down. So, it is compulsory to stay hydrated for fulfilling the water needs of the body.
Drink at least 8-10 glass of water. In addition, consume fresh fruit juices, coconut water, and lime juice to stay hydrated.
Due to the busy schedule of life, we often avoid having proper rest. Even sometimes, we affect our sleep cycle as well. Having adequate rest is not only essential during the menstruation cycle but on regular days as well.
Take at least 6-8 hours of rest for the effective functioning of the mind and getting rid of insomnia.
Hygiene is the most crucial factor during the menstruation cycle. There are higher chances of bacteria and infections during menstruation. Due to it, there are high chances of catching UTIs and vaginal infections. So, you should choose high-quality sanitary products and should change them often. Doctors recommend changing sanitary napkins and tampons within every 4-6 hours of the day.
Also, bathing is crucial during periods to avoid the bacteria growth in the body. One should take bath at least twice a day to avoid any bacterial infection.
According to many health consultants, many females faced vaginal infections because of choosing the wrong sanitation kit. Whether it is lack of awareness or lack of availability of products, it causes a problem. It is essential to select the appropriate method of sanitization which suits your body.

It is a myth that doing a workout during periods might have a poor effect on females. They believe that it would disturb their menstrual cycle. That’s why females avoid hitting gyms and even simple workouts as well. But doing simple exercise during periods enhances your mood and minimizes painful cramps during periods.
So, it is advisable to do light exercises, aerobics, yoga, and short walks during the cycle. It helps in the better regulation of hormones. But don’t do heavy weight lifting exercises and intense cardiovascular or endurance-type training.
It is possible to experience some unexpected changes during the menstruation cycle. They might not be serious issues still, sometimes they can create itchiness or discomfort. Hence you shouldn’t avoid them. Visit your gynecologist if you are facing something unusual and take proper measures for your protection.
There are some don’t as well that you should stop doing while you are on your period.
Healthy eating is not only about consuming food full of nutrients but avoiding foods that contain trans-fat, added sugar, and salt as well. It sometimes becomes difficult to manage to manage food cravings, hence people end up eating junk in huge quantities during their periods. Junk food contains rich saturated fatty acids that affects the metabolism of progesterone during the menstrual cycle.
Junk food also lacks micronutrients that could be responsible for dysmenorrhea. So, it is advisable to avoid junk & oily foods during periods.
We shouldn’t even discuss how painful period cramps are. And, you know what, alcohol gives a boost to that intolerable pain. Few females make the mistake of consuming alcohol during the menstrual period. Unfortunately, it reflects the moderate increase in the PMS symptoms. Although, the effect of alcohol hits differently on different females.
Consuming alcohol or caffeine during periods can lead to irregularity in the cycle, intensify the PMS symptoms, and lowers the level of magnesium in your body. So, it is advisable not to consume alcohol during the menstrual cycle.
The menstrual cycle is generic in nature, and so the pain during it. Sometimes, the pain becomes unbearable. And, to deal with this, girls prefer to take painkillers to get rid of it. Painkillers help get relief from pain. Although, sometimes, it may have some side effects as well.
So, it is advisable not to take painkillers until or unless prescribed by the health consultants/doctors.
